Though still in the depths of winter, the days are beginning to gently lengthen and light promises to return. Join us through this time of transition to explore the contemplative and grounding practice of mindful stitching.
Saturday Slow Stitch is a gentle, loosely structured session to sit and stitch together. You will learn some basics of hand stitching and some new stitches, but the emphasis is on letting your own creativity unfold.
Suitable for beginning to advanced stitchers.
One to one tuition as needed.
Materials provided.
Refreshments and tea/coffee provided.
You can bring your ongoing project or an idea, and Melinda will help you bring it to life. Or, we will have something to inspire us at each session, such as learning a new stitch, painting on fabric, stitching on paper…and more.
Slow Stitch is a meditative and mindful practice where the process of the movement of needle and thread through fabric is as important, if not more so, than the goal of producing a finished piece of work.
Moretonhampstead-based Melinda is a self-taught artist whose deeply personal artwork has been exhibited internationally and collected by the New York Public Library, The Muscogee Nation, the RAMM in Exeter, and the British Museum.
Since 2016 Melinda has been holding supportive spaces for others to explore and discover the simple joys of creativity as well as the deeply healing aspects of artmaking.
