Join us between Friday the 13th of September and Saturday the 2nd of November for upcoming exhibition ‘Spirit of Place’, featuring artists Rosie Sanders and Dominic Welch.
Dartmoor’s expansive moorlands, ancient stone circles, and rugged tors, evoke a profound sense of spirituality. The natural beauty and historical significance of Dartmoor, fosters strong connections that resonate in this exhibition, where Rosie Sanders and Dominic Welch perfectly complement each other’s practices.
Rosie Sanders is internationally celebrated for her intricate botanical and landscape paintings that “transcend pure representation or scientific documentation.” This exhibition features recent works where Sanders embraces the dramatic intensity of graphite, emerging from darkness into light, we are presented with subtle monochromatic landscapes, that offer insight into how she views and translates her experiences.
Dominic Welch’s sculptures normally sit outside in nature where his stone and metal shapes appear dominant, but not to the detriment of the surrounding environments. Here his forms interrupt the gallery, abstract and fluid they are a dynamic contrast to the nature inspired mark making within Rosie Sanders drawings and paintings.
The private view will be held on Thursday the 12th of September from 6:30pm – 8:00pm, providing an opportunity for attendees to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.
Entry is free. The Green Hill Arts Gallery is open from 10am-4pm weekly from Thursday to Saturday. The Gallery is situated at the top of Fore Street, Moretonhampstead, close to the Parish Church. Parking is in the Court Street and Station Road car parks.
