Pine Feroda is a collaboration of woodblock printmakers who make large-scale prints in a spirit of exploration, co-operation, and skill-sharing.  Pine Feroda have created a body of distinctive and striking work whose inspiration comes from the natural world - geology, water, waves and weather.

The group meet up in Hartland, North Devon, and discuss, draw and cut blocks over very intensive days and evenings, then meet again for subsequent sessions to proof and edition. During the proofing process, the power of the group - as it engages in looking at and debating every detail- brings up ideas and feels more than the sum of the parts.

The individual artists do every part of the process themselves.  Pine prints are not like any of their individual work. Pine Feroda has its own identity as an artist.

People ask about the division of labour. They try not to pigeonhole each other, but while they all draw, cut and ink, they do have different strengths. Pine is first and foremost about producing successful prints. It is not necessarily cosy, but the benefits of collaboration are here to see - exploration, skill-sharing and co-operation.

The three artists who make up Pine Feroda are Merlyn Chesterman RE, Ian Phillips and Judith Westcott.  Each of these artists will also show their individual work in the Show.
