An evening of live performance, music, sound art, traditional food and storytelling will be held at Moretonhampstead Parish Hall.
Written and performed by Patrice Naiambana, Perception Gap explores the psychological pressures facing an African refugee-outsider. Skewered between the expectations from back home and the challenges of conformity in his new country, our traveller is confronted with difficult questions of allegiance: "Who am I becoming? What Do I stand for?"
The piece is accompanied by live sound artist Ric White and a digital background depicting Africans in European paintings and artwork from the 12th to 19th Century.
The performance is African Diaspora Experimental using physical, musical, vocalisation and storytelling inspired by traditional African Dance Drama forms and the raison d'être of The Griot.
Organised by Devon based charities Villages in Action and Green Hill Arts, this event is part of the From Devon With Love festival - an annual scratch performance festival which supports some of the region’s best talent to test new work in front of a live audience.
