A chance to come together as a community to taste food prepared with fruit and veg grown by local growers. Guests will be treated to a two-course supper.

There will be music, dance, auction, licensed bar, pop-up gin bar courtesy of Papillion gin and a special kiln firing until the early hours. 

Beginning early in the morning, clay figures representing souls lost in the First World War will be put inside a purpose built wood fired, Ceremonial Kiln. They were made by old hands and young, in Coppelia House Residential Home, the Youth Club, school and community. The kiln once fired will burn until midnight, positioned in front of the church in the Square at Green Hill Moretonhampstead. Ceramic artists Nic Collins and Sabine Nemet, who live and work in the town, were commissioned for the project, ensuring it will be safely and expertly built and kept red hot and stoked, whilst over the road in the Parish Hall a Feast of home grown produce will have been cooked and eaten to celebrate the turning of the seasons and this year’s harvest. 

Dance Lab will animate the feasting with ‘a surprise’ of newly choreographed works... ‘not your average bit of dancing’, whilst local young musicians and Dave Faulkener’s community band will get feet tapping as tables are cleared and legs limber up for a boogie or two before the night is out. It all promises to be quite a ‘do’.

Working with all the school children artists Nicky Thompson and Angharad Barlow have had fun with cyanotype or ‘sun’ printing and recycled plastic, making 3D insect pollinators - ‘bugs on sticks’, beautiful table runners and bunting using the children’s drawings of insects and plants. The project also encouraged the school to grow food and prepare their own whole school midsummer feast. Nicky has made a collection of ceramic bowls and platters which will be auctioned after the feast to fund further work.

The fired figures will be installed in the Church of St Andrews as part of a 24 hour Vigil from 10.11.18 to commemorate the Centenary of the signing of the Armistice
