Lenkiewicz drew inspiration from the people of Plymouth, using them as models for large public murals and reflecting their lives in exhibitions or ‘Projects’ on social issues which uncovered taboo themes such as ‘vagrancy’, ‘mental handicap’, old age and death.

Showing diary notes, preparatory sketches and finished canvasses this exhibition curated by The Lenkiewicz Foundation, provides insight into some of the ideas and inspiration behind his work and reveals a side of his creativity that is seldom seen.
