This participatory project has was first shown at the Impressions 6 exhibition at Plymouth University, then Hatherleigh Festival and now Green Hill Arts, it will be shown at other galleries / events in the future as it builds in size.

It is fascinating to see the results of each individuals alterations and hardly ever what I would expect from those I know! Hopefully you will enjoy studying them all individually and as a whole and then participate - as you can see there are alterations by skilled artists and those with a simple idea or simply the spirit to join in.

It works as follows: You donate £4 and I give you a polaroid sized photograph taken in the Chernobyl exclusion zone that is simply a ‘shed’ with a pathway leading to it.

You are then free to modify it in anyway you wish. The only restriction is that it stays the same size.

You then return the altered print to me (Claire Gladstone) for inclusion in the exhibition - All participants will be credited. Profit from the £4 will go to the charity Shelter Box, which provides shelter for families made homeless by war and trauma. (over £500 raised so far)

Originally each shed was hand printed from a polymer plate on a traditional Rochat etching press - which took time and experience - unfortunately several people have chosen to simply keep the print! So after around 100 inkings, I have had to decide to use digital copies, expertly printed onto etching quality paper. You are very welcome to buy a print for £4 to keep, or I can hand print you an original print for £10 on request.

The altered prints will remain as my property, to be exhibited as a whole work and not to be sold. You get to be creative, the work is shown in various galleries and raises money for a worthwhile charity. Please note that by taking part you agree to the above information.

Please look on Instagram at some examples: alteredsheds  I will endeavour to include every single shed on the site with all participants credited.

I also have a just giving page - Altered Sheds Art Project

I hope you enjoy altering your shed, look forward to receiving it back and including your work in the next exhibition - or if you are quick this one too!
