The coming summer season is going to see an interesting influx of guests to Dartmoor National Park and surrounding Gateway Towns.  100 Moor Otters which will be colourfully kitted out in all sorts of shades and mediums.  Before you start to think about being overrun by these little guys worry not, they are 3 foot tall sculptures and have been painted by artists from around the region and indeed around the country and WE ARE HOSTING ONE!

They will all contribute and give input to make a very interesting and interactive Otter Trail which will officially start on 1st June and run through to 15th September 2017.

The objectives behind the project are twofold, firstly as a fundraiser for the DNP it will generate income which will enable specific identified conservation projects to be undertaken around the Park. Secondly, it will drive tourists, visitors and local residents around the route as they follow the Trail.

It is hoped that people will visit villages and towns that they would not as a rule have reason to drop in on.

Otter Trail booklets showing images of all the Otters will be produced and made available at host locations and tourist information points.  Anybody who finds and lists the unique reference codes of 20 Moor Otters, will be entered into a draw to win a range of spot prizes.  If visitors see an Otter that they really like, they can make an online bid for the Otter and if they are successful they will take ownership of it at the end of the event.

30 Golden Otters will be selected to go forward to a live auction at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood, in Exeter on 30th September 2017.  The online auction will close the following week.
